Delegate to Congress Donna M Christensen is pleased to announce that the Law Enforcement Planning Commission (LEPC) has received two grants totaling $637,738.00 from the United States Department of Justice.

The first grant in the amount of $36,738.00 is for use on the FY2008 Residential Substance Abuse Treatment for State Prisoners Program (RSAT). The RSAT program in the Virgin Islands will be used to fund the Bureau of Corrections program at the Golden Grove Correctional facility. This program will provide drug rehabilitation services in a set-aside residential treatment facility with random urinalysis, individual and group counseling, general education, self esteem development and cognitive and behavioral and social skill development and various other rehabilitation techniques.

The second grant in the amount of $601,000.00 is part of the FY08 VOCA Victim Assistance Formula Program. These funds come from the Crime Victims Fund to enhance crime victim services in the Virgin Islands. The Victim of Crimes Act (VOCA) assistance funds are competitively awarded by the State to local community-based organizations that provide direct services to crime victims.
