NELSON LAUNCHES YOUTH PUBLIC SERVICE WEBPAGE

Student Volunteers Invited to Send Stories and Photos to be Featured on Nelson's Website

March 11, 2008 - Are you spending your spring break helping others? Nebraska's Senator Ben Nelson wants to know.

Nelson is planning a special page on his official website that will recognize the efforts of Nebraska students who use their spring break, not for sun and surf, but use the time to help others. Nelson is inviting Nebraska students to send him their stories of service and philanthropy during spring break and plans to feature those stories and photos on the special page.

"More and more these days, students are opting to spend their spring break helping others," said Senator Nelson. "While many college students have thought of spring break as a simple break from classes and papers, a growing number of students are opting to help others both in the U.S. and abroad. I want to recognize and highlight these efforts."

Senator Nelson's "Spring Break for Service '08" site gives Nebraskan students an opportunity to post service experiences from alternative spring break programs. Visit the site to participate, find submission information and see what other students are doing around Nebraska.

Nebraskans wishing to post or read stories and pictures from Nebraskan students are encouraged to visit http://bennelson.senate.gov/springbreak through April 11, 2008.
