House Passes Michaud Bill Helping Homeless Veterans (7/10/08) WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Mike Michaud, Chairman of the House Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Health, applauded last night’s passage of H.R. 3329, the Homes for Heroes Act, which will provide shelter for homeless veterans and homeless veteran families, and help prevent low-income families from falling into homelessness. Michaud and Colleagues Examine Maine Truck Weight Issue at House Hearing (7/9/08) WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Mike Michaud, a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, joined fellow Highways and Transit Subcommittee members in holding a hearing on truck weight and length. Maine Department of Transportation Commissioner David Cole testified before the subcommittee on behalf of the State of Maine’s request to exempt the remainder of its Interstate System from federal truck weights so that it is consistent with state weight limits. Among other things, this change would help move trucks off the state’s secondary roads and onto the Interstate System. Read more...

Michaud Announces Establishment of New VA Clinic in Lewiston-Auburn (6/26/08) WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Mike Michaud, Chairman of the House Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Health, praised today’s announcement that the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) plans to create a new community-based outpatient clinic (CBOC) in the Lewiston-Auburn area in addition to 43 other locations in 20 states. The new clinic in the Lewiston-Auburn region is scheduled to be activated over the next 15 months. Read more...
