Congessman Lungren discusses H.R. 923, the Emmett Till Unsolved Civil Rights Crime Act, which would establish an Unsolved Civil Rights Crimes section in the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice. This legislation would also establish an Unsolved Civil Rights Crimes Investigative Office in the FBI. H.R. 923 passed the House by a nearly unanimous vote on June 20, 2007. Lungren Attends Stem Cell Ceremony at White House |

WASHINGTON, DC— U.S. Congressman Dan Lungren (R-CA) today praised the President for signing an executive order to support the most promising stem cell research that does not require harming or destroying living embryos. The order also expands the National Institutes of Health’s stem cell registry to include human pluripotent stem cells derived from ethical sources. Lungren also applauded President Bush’s veto today of a Democrat bill that would expand taxpayer funding of human embryo-destroying stem cell research. Lungren attended the veto ceremony at the White House today and released the following statement:

Coughlin gave the following opening prayer on the floor of the House of Representatives this morning: Lord God, early founders of the nation on this day in 1777 adopted a flag to symbolize their solidarity in defense and in belief of a new type of republic. They selected stars and stripes to speak both of colonial individuality as state rights drawn upon a broader field of federal identity. |
