Sen. Salazar's Statement on White House's Nominations to Fill Colorado U.S. District Court Vacancies

Two of Three Nominees Recommended by Sen. Salazar

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, the White House forwarded to the United States Senate three federal judge nominations to fill the vacancies in the Colorado District of the United States District Court. Two of the three White House nominees, Christine Arguello and Greg Goldberg, had been recommended by both Senator Salazar and Senator Allard. Senator Salazar’s recommendations were based on the advice of the bipartisan Judicial Nominations Advisory Commission he established earlier this year.

“The bipartisan Judicial Nominations Advisory Commission, Senator Allard, and I all recommended Mr. Goldberg and Ms. Arguello to the White House, and I am pleased that they have been nominated. I strongly support their nominations and will do all I can to ensure their confirmation in the Senate in the remaining weeks of this legislative session. The White House’s third nominee, Mr. Philip Brimmer, was not recommended to me by the Judicial Nominations Advisory Commission, which evaluated his application among those of a wide range of candidates. The Judicial Nominations Advisory Commission was modeled after the merit selection procedures for Colorado State judges set up in the State Constitution. I respect the commission’s work and recommendations and I will not support his confirmation.”

The nominations have been referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee for review and consideration.
