Congressman Souder's Position
For some time, we have seen a small group of trial lawyers abuse our court system, driving up costs for all Americans and making it more difficult for employers to operate within the United States. I firmly believe that our nation’s civil legal system is in need of reform. We can no longer tolerate the abuses that serve only to profit trial lawyers while clogging court dockets, driving up consumer costs, undermining U.S. innovation, and placing U.S. manufacturers at a competitive disadvantage in the global marketplace. I am, therefore, a strong supporter of lawsuit abuse reform.
