Stabenow,
Levin Announce Over $12,000 to the Luna Pier Fire Department for Fire
Safety
|
WASHINGTON
— U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Carl Levin (D-MI) announced
today that the Luna Pier Fire Department has been awarded $12,160 through
the Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program
(AFGP). The funding will be used to support operations and firefighter
safety.
“The citizens of Luna Pier rely on their local firefighters to protect them when emergencies arise,” said Stabenow. “The fire fighters of the Luna Pier Fire Department deserve nothing less than the best possible equipment and training and this funding represents a major step towards that goal.” “Michigan’s firefighters and first responders play a critical role in keeping us safe and secure,” said Levin. “These federal dollars will help provide the Luna Pier Fire Department with the resources they need to do their jobs safely and effectively.” The AFGP awards grants directly to fire departments and EMS organizations to improve the effectiveness of operations and health and safety programs, and to establish or expand fire prevention programs throughout the United States. Grants are awarded competitively through an application process. More information can be found at http://www.firegrantsupport.com/. |
