Rep. Baird Fights for Sales Tax Deductibility
Will Washingtonians be able to deduct the money they spent this year on state sales taxes from their federal income taxes? Right now, that remains an open question, but it’s one that Congressman Brian Baird (D-WA-03) is demanding an answer to. In a bipartisan letter drafted by Congressman Baird and signed by 56 other Members of Congress, Congressman Baird is asking Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Minority Leader Boehner to each lean on their counterparts in the Senate to pass the much needed tax package that includes a provision extending the deductibility of sales taxes.
