The McCaul Minute

September 16, 2008

Dear Friends,

As we continue to recover from Hurricane Ike, I invite those of you in the Austin area to join the Hurricane Ike Disaster Relief Drive sponsored by the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas and AM 590 KLBJ.  They will be taking food, hygiene and monetary donations and you don’t even have to get out of your car to help.

Wednesday, September 17
HEB at I-35 and Parmer
6:00am – 7:00pm

The most requested items are as follows:

1) bottled water
2) granola bars
3) canned meats (pop-top lids)
4) peanut butter
5) diapers & wipes (adult and baby)
6) personal care items (toothpaste, toothbrush,
    feminine products, soap, shampoo,
    conditioner, etc.)

Most needed items: Canned meat (pop-top lids), peanut butter, granola bars.

For more information you can go to:

http://www.austinfoodbank.org/hurricane-ike-disaster-relief/i-want-to-help.html.

Your donation will help people in Galveston, Houston, and even some of the cities on the far eastern edge of the 10th Congressional District, such as Tomball and Katy.  I spent yesterday in both of those communities which are also coping with their share of power outages and short supply of necessities.  Progress is being made restoring power and fuel and removing debris.  But for many throughout the devastated region it will be weeks, if not longer, before their lives return to normal and they are self sufficient.  I thank you in advance for your generosity in this time of great need.

With best regards,
Michael T. McCaul
