Congressman Mica, how have you strengthened aviation security?
As Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Aviation from 2001 to 2007, my most important role was to strengthen our nation's avaiation security system. We developed a multi-layered system that provides security within our nation's airports and on our aircraft and inlcudes increased passenger and baggage screening, federal air marshals and armed commercial pilots.
In response to the attacks of September 11th, Congress approved several important measures designed to enhance aviation security. Additional information on this aviation security legislation is also available on this website.
