2008 CONGRESSIONAL SURVEY RESULTS
I’d like to thank the thousands of people who took the time to respond to my constituent survey and invite folks to review the results below.
As your Representative in Congress, I work hard to advance your values. Thankfully, your priorities are a pleasure to stand up for. Survey results confirm our community cares deeply about our children, families, and schools.
Based on the results, I have already taken several important actions. First, I co-sponsored House Resolution 333. If passed, this resolution would impeach Vice President Dick Cheney. Doing so is necessary before we can impeach President George Bush.
Second, I will redouble efforts to work with colleagues to move forward legislation that would allow the millions of uninsured people age 55 through 64 to buy into Medicare. Third, I will continue to oppose retroactive immunity for the telecommunications companies that complied with the Administration’s warrantless wiretapping program.

HEALTH CARE
Medicare currently provides quality health care to seniors
age 65 and older and people with disabilities. Should
Congress allow the millions of uninsured people above
age 55 who are not yet eligible for Medicare to obtain
health care by buying into the program at no cost to the
government?
IMMIGRATION
Several proposals for immigration reform are currently
pending in Congress. Do you think such reforms should
allow undocumented immigrants already in America to earn
permanent residency?
WOMEN’S RIGHTS
President Bush has reinstated former President Ronald Reagan’s “global gag rule,” which prohibits the United States from providing funds for family planning to international organizations that provide abortions. Should Congress repeal this rule?
CHILDREN AND FAMILIES
California is currently the only state to ensure that new parents and workers caring for a sick family member are able to take six weeks of paid leave. Should the federal government follow suit and ensure that workers across the country have paid family and medical leave?
GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABILITY
Should Congress impeach President Bush?
EDUCATION
Should Congress revise the No Child Left Behind Act to increase funding and local flexibility while maintaining high accountability standards?
CIVIL LIBERTIES
Several telecommunications companies complied with the Administration’s warrantless wiretapping program and made customers’ telephone conversations and email correspondence available to the government for review. Should individuals whose private communications were disclosed be able to sue the telecommunications companies?
