Monsoon storms west of Saint David, Arizona. The Whetstone Mountains can be seen in the distance. The Arizona monsoon occurs during the summer months when the primary wind flow shifts from a west/northwest direction to a south/southeast direction, allowing moisture to stream northward from the Gulf of Mexico and the Gulf of California.
