U.S. Power Squadrons Cooperative Charting Program

Overview

Overview

The Cooperative Charting Program was initiated in 1963 and is a joint effort between the United States Power Squadrons (USPS) and the National Ocean Service (NOS). The USPS is a volunteer staff of over 2800 participants that collects field data that can be used to improve the quality of NOS products.

The purpose of this Web site is to provide a seamless mechanism for handling the field data collected by USPS members. This system replaces the current NOAA 77-4 form. After USPS personnel collect data in the field, they will input it onto a collection of forms using any web browser. After this data has been validated, the information will be quality reviewed by the Nautical Data Branch to determine if it should be forwarded to the cartographers to update the nautical charts.

For more information on becoming a member of the USPS please contact the USPS Headquarters at http://www.usps.org/. Please note, the preceding link connects to a Web site outside of the Office of Coast Survey Web site.
