UPDATE ON MISSING ILLINOIS GIRL
The
FBI and Federal Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) worked through
the night to locate Roza Ahmad, a teenager from Shiloh, Illinois
who had not been seen since Tuesday, May 20, 2008. Ahmad
was picked up at her school Tuesday morning by Heriberto Torres-Rodriguez,
a Miami-Dade County resident. Torres-Rodriguez drove to Illinois
on Monday and returned to Miami with her on Thursday.
Torres-Rodriguez met Ahmad by way of an Internet chat room about
a year and a half ago.
Late last night, a tip was called into the Orlando Police Department (OPD)
giving an address in Opa-Locka, Florida where Heriberto Torres-Rodriguez and
Roza Ahmad could be found. OPD called Opa-Locka and officers were sent to the residential
address. Both Torres-Rodriguez and Ahmad were located and Torres-Rodriguez
was arrested without incident.
Torres-Rodriguez was renting a room at this residence. The owner was
also present at the time of Torres-Rodriguez' arrest.
The case will be prosecuted by the United States Attorney's Office, Southern
District of Illinois.
