SMART CARD STANDARDS AND INTEROPERABILITY

This site helps bring the smart card community with emphasis on smart card policy, standards, interoperability, and education.

  • Tracks the latest in Federal smart card developments (What's New),
  • The Smart Card Handbook developed to help agencies develop and deploy smart card systems,
  • Provides a multi-media tutorial on smart cards (Smart Card Tutorial),
  • Maintains a database of Government smart card projects (Smart Data),
  • Maintains a list of participants in the Smart Card Project Managers Group (Project Managers),
  • Provides a library of PowerPoint presentations and documents related to smart cards (Library),
  • Lists a number of business cases and related case studies (Business Cases/Case Studies),

GSA and NIST (http://smartcard.nist.gov/) also participate in Federal, U.S., and global standard-making efforts; coordinated through the Government Interoperability Advisory Board (IAB), Smart Card Alliance, Global Platform, and other national and international organizations.
