Welcome!
The Bay Area Air Quality Management District is committed to achieving clean air to protect the public's health and the environment in the San Francisco Bay region. The Air District aims to:
 · Attain and Maintain Air Quality Standards
 · Increase Public Awareness of Positive Air Quality Choices
 · Develop and Implement Protocol and Policies for Environmental Justice

Wildfires
California is currently in its wildfire season, and there are a number of fires that continue to burn in the northern part of the state. The Air District monitors general air quality in the Bay Area and will issue a health advisory if wildfire smoke appears to be causing elevated levels of particulate pollution in the region. There is currently no health advisory in effect. Residents should take precautions if they are experiencing localized effects of wildfire smoke. For general smoke and fire information, see our wildfire safety tips and CAPCOA’s information and resources.

Updated Ambient Air Monitoring Network Plan
The Air District's 2007 Ambient Air Monitoring Network Plan is available for viewing. The plan describes the Air District’s ambient air monitoring network for the most recent full year of operation, and includes proposed changes to the air monitoring network during 2008 and 2009.
