Notice - Excerpts of Record Rule (5.27.08)
We are aware that there has been some confusion about how to interpret the format provisions of the Excerpts of Record Rule, Circuit Rule 30-1.6. While we pursue the need for further amendments, we offer the following clarification.

Volume I of your excerpt must contain all of the underlying lower court decisions on appeal. This would include portions of the transcript containing any oral decisions or rulings. Volume I is not limited to 75 pages. Unless your total number of excerpt pages is 75 pages or less, however, Volume I is limited to the contents specified in the rule, so everything else you want to include in your excerpts should be placed in a separate volume or volumes. No single volume, including Volume I, should exceed 300 pages. If your total number of excerpt pages is 75 pages or less, then there is no need to file a separate volume containing the underlying lower court decisions; all the excerpt material can be included in a single volume.

Ordering the documents in reverse chronological order is an option, not a requirement.
