Funding Priorities for New Fiscal Year
As part of its planning for the new fiscal year, the Panel has established its funding priorities through the 2006/07 Strategic Plan. With our increased budget, we will be writing up to $120 million in job training contracts this year.
First, we are targeting nine priority industries that are critical to California's growth and economic health. As a further incentive, companies within these industries are eligible for increased levels of reimbursement. The priority industries are the following:
- Manufacturing
- Biotechnology and Life Sciences
- Aerospace and Defense
- Advanced Technology Information Services
- Multimedia/Entertainment
- Goods Movement and Transportation Logistics
- Agriculture
- Healthcare
- Construction
Next, we will continue to focus on important economic development projects and prioritize coordinated state and local efforts for business attraction and retention that merit additional assistance by designating them as "Critical Proposals".
Finally, the Panel will continue to place great importance on training for workers in small businesses, especially those with fewer than 100 employees.
We look forward to working with you to identify companies in your areas that meet the Panel's priorities. Please contact us if you are interested in applying for funds, or have local companies that you believe will benefit from ETP funding.
For more information on how to apply for Panel funds, contact Charles Lundberg, Economic Development Director, at 916-327-5261 or clundberg@etp.ca.gov.
