PIPES Act Signed
On December 29th President Bush signed HR 5782, the Pipeline Inspection, Protection, Enforcement and Safety Act (PIPES Act) of 2006. It will greatly improve safety and strengthen Federal and state pipeline safety programs. Implementing the new law will be a priority for PHMSA in 2007 and beyond. Outreach and discussion has begun on HAZMAT reauthorization which will be an issue in the next (2007) Congress.
