Conclusion of Stock Study
2004
will be the final year for the Baldrige Stock Study. The Baldrige Program
has decided to discontinue the study because it no longer accurately reflects
the results, accomplishments, and diversity of the Baldrige Award recipients
and site-visited organizations. In recent years, particularly since the
addition of the health care and education eligibility categories, there
has been an increase in the number of Baldrige Award recipients that are
either nonprofit or privately owned businesses. In fact, for the past
5 years (2000-2004) only 4 of the 23 Baldrige Award recipients were publicly
traded, U.S.-owned organizations and could be included in the stock study.
BNQP is currently researching alternatives to the stock study and hopes
to replace it with an index that better reflects the performance of all
recent Award recipients. We will continue to highlight results and accomplishments
of individual Award recipients through their profiles and application
summaries on the Award Recipients Contacts
and Profiles page.
