UNICAT Control System

The UNICAT control system provides remote control capabilities for all experiments at UNICAT. EPICS forms the underlying backbone of the control system implementation, providing scientists with access to motors, scalers, and other equipment through a common interface.

An equipment protection system (EPS) is implemented on each beam line using a network of programmable logic controllers (PLCs). An additional PLC network provides a high-reliability alarm system used for routine monitoring of subsystems.

EPICS design

Documentation is provided (at left) for some components of the UNICAT control system.
