Washington, D.C. - Representative Kenny Marchant (R-TX) released the following statement this afternoon announcing his subcommittee assignments for the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee:
"As the Representative of the 24th Congressional district of Texas, I have been fortunate to be assigned to the Subcommittees on Aviation; Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management; and Highways and Transit for the 110th Congress. This will enable me to continue providing the assistance that has benefited my constituents so much during the past two years. Subcommittees such as these will play a vital part in moving our nation forward as we begin this new session of Congress.
"The Subcommittee on Aviation will play a primary role in reauthorizing funding for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). As a member of this subcommittee, I will be in a position to help shape this and other legislation that is important to D/FW and Alliance Airports. The Subcommittee on Highway and Transit maintains authority over surface transportation policy and infrastructure. In addition, the Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management has jurisdiction over programs related to FEMA, federal leasing, and economic development of underprivileged communities."
