The District's award-winning technology programs include: DC.Gov Geographic Information Systems (GIS) DC GIS includes over 200 digital maps. Collectively, DC GIS maps and data form a detailed knowledge base that crosses agency boundaries and supports a wide variety of applications including public works, homeland security, economic development, civil engineering, policy analysis, and environmental protection. Public Safety Wireless System Using the best voice communications in the country, DC fire and police responders use this wireless system that works everywhere in the District, even in tunnels. CAPStat CAPStat integrates District databases to extract, organize, and display data as actionable intelligence. CAPStat uses GIS, business intelligence, and messaging technology to gather, analyze and deliver real-time information that city leaders use for strategies and tactical decisions, providing for a more responsive and effective city government.
