Hayworth Statement on Reopening of Taconic State Parkway/AMVETS Bridge
Wednesday October 03, 2012Washington, DC – Congresswoman Nan Hayworth, M.D. (NY-19) released the following statement this morning upon the reopening of the northbound Taconic State Parkway/AMVETS Bridge over the New Croton Reservoir in Westchester County.
“The early reopening of the northbound AMVETS Bridge is welcome news for the thousands of Hudson Valley commuters who cross the bridge every day. It’s important that we keep our roads and bridges in good repair, and I commend NYS DOT Commissioner Joan McDonald for completing this critical project early.”
The bridge, which was closed in March and was expected to reopen in November, received much-needed rehabilitation including replacement of concrete bridge deck and railing, steel hangers and deck supports, installation of new guide rail, and resurfacing of the roadway at each end of the bridge. More than 32,000 vehicles cross the bridge every day.
