Thank you so incredibly much of letting me know that you are a sponsor of the Due Process and Military Detention Amendments Act. It is comforting to know that you understand how important the bill is to clarify and state that the no American citizen or lawful U.S. resident can be detained indefinitely without a charge. I was gracious for your quick response to my email. Hope you have a great day :)

    • I urge you to support the Internet Radio Fairness Act. From what I've read, some companies pay more royalties than others and that is not fair. It should be uniform for all internet radio companies.

    • Rep. Doggett....I used to live in Austin & voted for you & have the deepest respect for how you helped me on various issues. I live in Hutto, but my issue isn't a local issue, but an issue with Facebook! I post on "The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell" which of course is a Democratic FB page. We (my many Last Word friend's & I) get bombarded with "Trolls" GOP & especially Tea Partiers hateful comments, name calling, racists remarks, religious bigotry, & absolutely foul language. Of course we have freedom of speech & we respect that. However, being as the comments are only filled with the above kind of comments & nothing of real substance, we have begun blocking them which works for the majority of the time. However, it seems that some (which are very vulgar) & are always recent accounts can't be blocked for some reason. Many of these are friends of Mark Zuckerberg the CEO of Facebook. I find that very suspicious, & not only that, when we report their posts as hateful racial & religious remarks, one post after another on every comment nothing is done to stop it. Instead, we have been forced to sign back in or they say we're spamming. We're not! We're only report each post which seems to be endless. Can you please investigate this allowance of harrassment & favoritism which obviously exists! They have their guidelines that they don't enforce with these "Trolls" but instead reach beyond their guidelines towards Democrats. I thank you for your time & consideration! You can bet I'm voting on November 6th, as we all are for OBAMA & DEMOCRATS IN 2012 & FORWARD! SOLID BLUE & TRUE!

  2. This article from the Texas Tribune discusses the negative impact that the budget cuts enacted by the Texas Legislature have had on our public schools. With increased global competition, we should be strengthening, not weakening, our commitment to education -- from pre-K to post-grad -- ensuring we have the world's most able workforce.

  4. It is an honor to be named a Champion for Children by First Focus Campaign for Children, a group that does such good work advocating for the needs of our youngest Americans. I will continue advocating for common-sense policies to protect children in these tough economic times.
  5. Reaching more of our neighbors through American Sign Language, I recently appeared on ACCESS News with Tamara Suiter-Ocuto (and signing provided by Jennifer Stoker). The program already aired on KLRU and will run again on Channel 19 of the ACC Network.
  6. Today is World Alzheimer’s Action Day. In Texas alone, it is estimated that there are 340,000 people aged sixty-five and older currently living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. I have once again introduced the National Silver Alert Act to bring those who wander away from home back to safety.
  7. Be sure to catch our interview this Sunday, September 23 at 1:00 p.m. on KLRU-TV and thereafter on Channel 19 of the ACC Network!

nd a voice-over. We covered many topics, and I am thankful for their efforts to help communicate to all our neighbors. I have been involved in the Texas deaf community since my work as a young state senator, and authored a Texas law expanding the rights of deaf persons to interpreters in civil, administrative, and criminal proceedings.

  8. Today I spoke on the House floor about the TANF reform bill and the cynical attempts by some to divide Americans. You can view the speech below.
