Equipment Requirements:All appliances must be Energy Star rated
Dishwasher: CEE Tier 2
Refrigerator: 12 cubic feet or larger
Clothes Washers: CEE Tier 2 or 3
Furnace: AFUE 92%
Central AC Replacement: Minimum SEER 14
Boilers: AFUE 85%
Water Heaters: See program application form
Attic/Roof/Wall Insulation: See program application form
Systems must be purchased new, at retail price
Installation Requirements:Applications must be postmarked and submitted no later than 90 days after purchase/install date
New construction projects are not eligible for insulation rebates

Summary:

City of Palo Alto Utilities offers incentives to residential customers to increase the energy efficiency of homes through the Smart Energy Rebate Program. Rebates are offered for qualifying refrigerators, dishwashers, furnaces, boilers, air conditioners, water heaters, power strips, solar attic fans, LED lighting, heat pumps, pool pumps,and insulation.Rebates are issued on requested rebate amount or actual cost of measure, whichever is the lesser amount. Rebates less than $350 will be applied to the CPAU utility account where qualifying measures were installed. Applications must be postmarked and submitted no later than 90 days after purchase/install date.

Submit proof of purchase and supporting documentation including:
• Retailer/Contractor name, address and phone number.
• Itemized listing of measures including purchase price, manufacturer’s name and product number.
• Date of full payment and payment terms.
• Documentation of efficiency levels.
