Summary:

Idaho Falls Power's Energy Efficiency Loan Program offers zero interest loans for qualifying customers to purchase and install efficient electric appliances. The program will loan up to 100% of the actual cost of eligible measures for qualifying customers. Electric appliances eligible for financing include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Water heaters (minimum .93 energy factor)
  • Refrigerators
  • Freezers
  • Compact fluorescent bulbs
  • Energy Star washing machines (1.72 MEF minimum)
  • Electric rechargeable lawn mowers, electric rechargeable weed trimmers
  • Electronic thermostats

This program is only available to customers with a good payment history with City Utilities (i.e. no outstanding current balance, no disconnects for nonpayment, no delinquencies), and who have minimum of one year payment history with the utility. There is a $25 administration charge to apply. If non-payment occurs for three months, the remaining balance will be immediately due and payable with interest at 12% per year or electric service can be disconnected.  For more information, visit the program website.
