  28. Jackson: Most counties in CA still struggle to provide info to voters in accessible formats. PDF is not accessible format.

  29. Jackson: Most often machines are not positioned for privacy. Often, machines are not set up properly, if they are set up at all.

  30. Fracht: My experience voting has never been easy, but I think it could be improved with better pollworker training.

  35. Irish: Would like to look at how we can use technology a bit more for voter engagement.

  36. Dowd: We are looking at ways to incorporate electronic pollbooks & ways to use technology to speed up the check in process.

  37. Dowd: 3 conferences a year & provide training at each of those. Developed voter info packet, which anyone can use. Share info.

  38. Irish: Staff are all trained on how to set up & test accessible equipment. We test the machines publicly prior to each election.

  39. Dowd: The key thing really is to do more outreach. Make sure people know what resources you have available.

  40. Tassinari: Don't hire to make your system accessible; hire them to teach you how to make it accessible; build it that way from the start.

  41. Tassinari: Money actually wasn't issue this time. Went with local group. Helped us update for now & plan for future.

  42. Masterson: What advice do you have for colleagues on resources & approach to make your websites accessible?

  43. Dowd: Early voting in MA for the first time this Nov.; this provides more access to voting & all early voting sites = accessible.

  44. Dowd: Communication & outreach is key. We continue to work on introducing people to the equipment. Happy to provide demos.

  45. Irish: One thing I am most proud of is our Accessibility Ambassador Program. All of our polling locations are accessible today.
