Wing Luke NPS DesignationAfter years of advocacy by the Chinatown and International District community, the Museum board, and some help from my office and others’, the Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience has been designated an affiliated area by the National Park Service. With this designation the museum will gain prominence by becoming part of the nationally recognized system of America’s natural and cultural resources, as well as receive protection and technical support from the NPS. This Sunday, which was the Chinese New Year, we celebrated with Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, and others. I am so proud to have been a part of this important achievement.
