The AESDirect VPN Service Overview

AESDirect VPN provides an Internet based Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection to the AESDirect Service.

AESDirect VPN can be used by three categories of companies filing to AES, these are:

• Companies using the AESDirect WWW and AESWebLink interactive interfaces
• Companies using the AESDirect EDI Upload feature
• Companies filing (connecting) directly with CBP AES ("AES") system from their own computer system and not currently using AESDirect.

The AESDirect VPN Service allows companies to establish a secure (encrypted) Internet connection to AESDirect. AESDirect provides a free client side software utility to establish and manage this connection. This connection provides the ability to conduct a secure automated exchange of data between a filing companies own computers (systems) and the AESDirect Service. The AESDirect VPN Service thus allows Direct AES and AESDirect filers to electronically deliver AES submission transactions to AESDirect and allows AES responses to be delivered back to the filer in secure and automated computer-to-computer transactions.

How AESDirect VPN Can Be Used

AESDirect VPN provides AESDirect users (WWW, AESWebLink, and EDI Filers) with a fully automated secure and encrypted data link to their existing AESDirect Account.

• AESDirect EDI Filers have the option to replace their manual upload of EDI data to AESDirect with a fully automated upload. AESDirect also delivers back their AES responses automatically as e-Responses. Click here to see details of the AESDirect EDI VPN responses

• AESDirect WWW and AESWebLink Filers have the option to replace their e-mail AES response delivery with an e-Response. e-Responses are delivered to a pre-established installation of the AESDirect VPN client side software that has been established for their AESDirect Account. • AESPcLink Users ARE NOT affected by the VPN service as PcLink already provides direct messaging of responses back to their PcLink Software.

AESDirect VPN provides companies already filing directly to AES a fully automated secure and encrypted data link to their existing AES Account through AESDirect.

• Companies Filing Directly to AES are able to use the Internet to send existing AES transactions to the AESDirect VPN Service for submission to their companies filing account in the AES System. The AESDirect VPN service will also deliver all AES responses automatically back to the filer when received from AES. Both the send and receipt of data between the filer and AESDirect VPN operate in a fully automated manner.
