NTSB SENDS INVESTIGATORS TO TAIWAN TO ASSIST IN AIRLINE CRASH INVESTIGATION

The National Transportation Safety Board is sending a team of investigators to provide assistance to the Taiwan authorities' investigation of a plane crash in Taipei, Taiwan. On October 31, at approximately 11:18 p.m. local time, a Singapore Airlines 747, flight 006 bound for Los Angeles, crashed on take-off on the runway at Chiang Kai-Shek International Airport. There were a reported 179 passengers and crew on board.
The eight-member NTSB team, led by senior investigator Al Dickinson, who has been designated the U.S. Accredited Representative, is expected to arrive in Taiwan on Thursday evening, local time. Representatives of the Federal Aviation Administration will accompany the NTSB investigators.
All information on the progress of the investigation will be released by the Taiwan authorities.
