NTSB LAUNCHES TEAM TO INVESTIGATE AMTRAK DERAILMENT IN MARYLAND

July 29, 2002

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The National Transportation Safety Board has launched a Go Team to investigate this afternoon’s derailment of an Amtrak passenger train in Montgomery County, Maryland.

NTSB investigator Jim Southworth will lead the effort as Investigator-in-Charge of the 8-member team. Vice Chairman Carol Carmody will accompany the team and serve as principal spokesperson. Lauren Peduzzi will be the NTSB’s on-scene press officer.
