On Friday, February 15, the Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy will hold a hearing on "The Role of the States in Protecting the Environment Under Current Law.” The subcommittee will hear from state officials responsible for implementing state and federal environmental laws, including state regulations of solid waste, drinking water, and hydraulic fracturing. On February 12, 2013, the House approved The Veteran Emergency Medical Technician Support Act (H.R. 235), authored by Reps. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) and Lois Capps (D-CA), that would provide demonstration grants to states with a shortage of emergency medical technicians (EMTs) to streamline state-licensing requirements for military veteran EMTs to prevent unnecessary duplication in training.
