Energy and the Environment
There is only one planet Earth, and there is only one chance to protect it.
I grew up in South Florida, I live in South Florida, and I love South Florida. I want to ensure that we leave the next generation as beautiful a region as we have enjoyed.
In order to do so, the Everglades must be restored and they must be protected. Also, I will not support any measure that threatens our waters or our coasts – including off-shore oil drilling.
Florida has the third-highest number of endangered species in the nation. The preservation of these animals is encompassed in the Endangered Species Act. This act, perhaps one of the most important laws protecting both animals and our environment, has kept many species from being extinct. If not for the Endangered Species Act, the American Bald Eagle, the very symbol of the United States, might not exist today. I am opposed to weakening of the Endangered Species Act by removing protections for endangered species and allowing those practices that threaten the future of our valuable wildlife for our children and our grandchildren.
