Earmarks in FY 2009 Appropriations Bills

On this webpage you can access preliminary information on earmarks in the appropriations bills for FY 2009 as they move through the legislative process to become law. By clicking on the link below, you can browse available earmark data by Appropriations Subcommittee. The data includes total counts, amounts (in thousands), and listings of earmarks with descriptions, funding by stage, congressional sponsors, and supporting citations. These webpages will be updated as federal departments and agencies complete their review of enacted FY 2009 appropriations. Federal departments and agencies are scheduled to begin adding distribution data (recipients and beneficiaries) to these webpages beginning in the spring 2010.

Note: These estimates may differ from those of other entities due to differences in the definition of an earmark used by that entity. Definitions used by the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate can be found on their respective websites. Identifying earmarks does not reflect agency decisions to commit, obligate, or expend funds on those earmarks.
