Board's Mission

The Board is legislatively mandated to safeguard the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Wyoming by ensuring that those individuals licensed to provide these athletic training services in this state are appropriately qualified.

Who Must Be Licensed or Certified:

Anyone who is practicing athletic training as defined in statute:

"Practice of athletic training" means the application of the principles and
methods of prevention, recognition, evaluation and assessment of athletic injuries and illnesses, immediate care of athletic injuries including common injuries, medical emergencies, psychosocial intervention and referral, conditioning and rehabilitative exercise, nutritional aspects of injuries and illnesses, the use of therapeutic modalities, proper healthcare administration, professional development and the understanding and education of applications, precautions, interactions, indications and contraindications of pharmacology for athletes. "Practice of athletic training" does not include the practice of physical therapy as defined in W.S. 33-25-101(a)(i).

The Athletic Training Act is also a Title Act, meaning no one can use the title of Athletic Trainer in Wyoming without a license through the Board.
