From our Wing Commander:
We are now over halfway through 2016, and activities of all kinds are developing throughout the Wing. National Staff College and Region Staff College are on the horizon with several Wing members attending. Cadet Encampment was a huge success, and many thanks go out to Maj. Bill Edwards and his dedicated staff of professionals for another amazing experience for our cadets!
Our operations mission is expanding with a closer relationship with Nevada Department of Emergency Management, Arizona Wing Communication Team, and surrounding Wings. We have strengthened our IMAT (Incident Management Action Team) to enable our quick response when the call for support comes from any place across the nation.
Units are beginning to participate in 75th Anniversary activities by planning publications and recruiting events to spread the word about CAP. In December, we are organizing simultaneous dinner events in Northern and Southern Nevada. The events are being planned for the weekend of December 3-4, 2016. Watch for details to be publicized soon.
2016 will be see change of commands for several of our units who are planning diligently for the transitions. Since the Wing has instituted the use of Dropbox to insure an environment of ‘continuous compliance’ all units should have a very smooth transition. On the matter of compliance, is our 2016 Compliance Inspection which will occur in May. This comes around every four years and this year the format will be very different and will give Nevada Wing a chance to shine once again!
Congratulations go out to Henderson Composite Squadron for being named a Squadron of Merit and the way things are growing in the Wing, we will have more achieving that distinction next year.
