Vermont Route 9 Chain-up Law

The Department of Motor Vehicles would like to inform drivers of large vehicles they will be required to use tire chains on Vermont Route 9 during inclement weather. Modified Hours for Thanksgiving

On Wednesday November 23rd there will be no extended hours. Offices normally open to 6:00/6:30 pm will close at 4:00/4:30 pm. All offices will be closed on Thursday & Friday.

Benningtion Office Closure & Relocation

The Department of Motor Vehicles Bennington office is moving. On Friday December 2nd the Bennington office will be closed. On Monday December 5th the office will open at the new location, 530 Main Street. For updates visit, fb.me/DMVBennington

Automated Vehicle Inspection Program (AVIP)

The Department of Motor Vehicles is integrating electronic data collection and management into Vermont’s Safety and Emissions Inspection process. This is a major effort to improve program effectiveness and efficiency that is known as the Automated Vehicle Inspection Program or AVIP.

A Fitting Station is a free and convenient way to have your child's car seat inspected by a NHTSA-certified CPS technician. Parents and caregivers receive personal instruction on the proper selection, installation, and use of their car seats.
