Indian Health Service

The Indian Health Service (IHS), an agency within the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), provides federal health services to 1.9 million American Indians and Alaska Natives through a network of over 40 hospitals and more than 230 clinics in 35 states across the United States. The mission of IHS is to raise the physical, mental, social, and spiritual health of American Indians and Alaska Natives to the highest level.
