Sensenbrenner Lauds Ex-Im Bank Approval for Indian Power Plant

‘Need to Focus on Job Creation, Move Past Cap-and-Tax’

Washington, D.C. –Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., ranking Republican on the House Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming issued the following statement on the U.S. Export-Import Bank’s 3-0 vote on Wednesday to make a $900 million in loan guarantees for an Indian power plant and mining project that will contract South Milwaukee’s Bucyrus International Inc. to manufacture equipment:

“I’m pleased with the unanimous vote of approval to build an Indian power plant, which will lead to hundreds of jobs for Milwaukee-area residents. I hope this vote symbolizes a new direction for the Obama Administration, where policies promote American economic growth rather than ship jobs overseas.  Next, the President should acknowledge the harmful consequences cap-and-tax will impose on American workers.”
