SACRAMENTO, CA - Governor Jerry Brown today signed SB 1063 by Senator Isadore Hall, III (D - South Bay), creating the strongest equal pay law in the United States. SB 1063, the Wage Equality Act of 2016, will close California's wage gap by prohibiting employers from paying employees a wage rate less than the rate paid to employees of a different race or ethnicity for substantially similar work.

SACRAMENTO, CA -  The California State Legislature today gave its final approval of SB 1063 by Senator Isadore Hall, III (D – South Bay), which will create the strongest wage equality law in the nation by prohibiting employers from paying a worker less than their co-worker based upon their race or ethnicity. The measure was approved in the State Senate on a vote of 26 to 12. On Tuesday, the State Assembly approved the measure on a bipartisan vote of 60 to 14.

The measure was approved on a bipartisan vote of 56 to 12.
