During their service in Sierra Leone, Volunteers learn to speak the local languages, including: Krio, Mende, Temne, Mandinka, SuSu, Limba and Kuranko. More than 3,660 Peace Corps Volunteers have served in Sierra Leone since the program was established in 1962.
