During the period from early June through mid-July 2012 the SMAPVEX12 field campaign took place at field sites in Canada near Winnipeg, Manitoba. Blogs on this page, contributed by participants in the campaign, describe highlights of events as they took place every few days and provide insights into the field sampling and soil and vegetation conditions. We much appreciate everyone's willingness to share their experiences.

Special thanks are due to our Canadian partners in SMAP who managed the ground logistics and data acquisitions for the campaign. Thanks also to the aircraft instrument mission managers and their teams (PALS and UAVSAR) for their contributions to the success of the experiment; they provided a total of 17 and 15 flight days over the 6-week period for the PALS and UAVSAR, respectively. To all the dedicated members of the ground sampling teams who did the real hard work, we say a big thank you and hope your participation yields future rewards!
