Sustain Healthy Coasts
February 1999 - March 2004

sustain healthy coast homepage thumbnail iamge

The Sustain Healthy Coasts Web site (pdf, 260 kb) was assembled to support of a strategic goal of the 1995 NOAA Strategic Plan. Sustaining healthy coasts was part of NOAA's environmental stewardship mission in that plan. NOAA's goal for sustaining healthy coasts was for more productive and diverse habitats for fish and wildlife and cleaner coastal waters for recreation and the production of seafood by 2005. Also by that time, coastal communities would have thriving, sustainable economies based on well-planned development and healthy coastal ecosystems.

The Web site was organized into three topic areas–coastal habitats, clean coastal waters, and well-planned coastal communities. Each of these topic areas contained links to NOAA's State of the Coast Web site (since retired) which contained summary reports on the condition of coastal resources during the early to mid-1990s.

You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view this retired Web site.
