Due to upgraded security restrictions Federal users must have either .gov, .mil, or .edu, email addresses to register or access the Section 508 Universe training system. If a Federal user has a different email domain (.us), ten please contact us at section.508@gsa.gov for access privileges.
New users and currently registered users who do not have one of the above email extensions will no longer have access to the login feature, however, you will still have access to training courses outside of the system. It is recommended that users without registered accounts (non-Federal) save their certificates upon completion of a course to a file for future reference.
The 508 Universe serves as a central hub for GSA's section 508 training and information resources. In it you can access each of the topic- specific courses that address 508 implementation as well as explore Web links and a glossary of 508-related terms. If you are a Federal user, you may set up an account with a username and password. The username is used to track where you are in the courses so that should you choose to leave a course before finishing it, you can choose to "resume" when you next enter the Universe. This eliminates any possible security risk of using cookies, and no files are written to your computer. Non-Federal users may still take training courses, however they will not be able to create an account (save course progress, certificates, etc).
If you have previously registered for the 508 Universe training and are a Federal user, you will not need to do so again. Simply enter your assigned username and password in the "User Login" area on the drop down menu on the left of this screen, and select 508 Universe to enter the Section 508 Universe.
