| Description: | Last day for the county clerk or board of election commissioners to complete the tabulation of vote by mail ballots that were (1) postmarked by Election Day, and were received after the close of the polls on Election Day but not later than 14 days after the election, or (2) not postmarked at all, but did have a certification date prior to the Election Day on the certification envelope, and were received after the close of the polls on Election Day but not later than 14 days after the election. (10 ILCS 5/19-8)
NOTE: Vote by mail voters whose ballots were rejected must be sent a notice of such along with the reason for the rejection within two (2) days of the rejection, but in all cases prior to the end of the 14 day period in which to count the vote by mail ballots. Such voters must be given an opportunity to appear before the election authority on or before the 14 day following the election to show cause to why the ballot should not be rejected.
