Overview
Named after the intrepid explorer, Jedediah Strong Smith, Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park offers hiking and nature trails, river access, a visitor center with exhibits and a nature store. Managed cooperatively by the National Park Service and California State Parks, it is on Highway 199, 9 miles east of Crescent City. Phone (707) 465-7335 for more information.
Camping
Tent/RV camping: Sites 13, 17, 25, 37, 39, and 41 are accessible including parking and routes. There are accessible routes to restrooms/showers from these sites.
Cabin camping: All four cabins within the campground are accessible, including parking and routes. Electricity is available within the cabins. There are no restrooms in the cabins.
Restrooms/Showers: An accessible restroom/shower building is located directly across from site 40. Accessible parking is available at the restroom. One restroom opposite site 13 has a usable toilet.
The Campfire Center has both upper and lower accessible seating areas.
Picnic Area
The picnic area has 10 accessible tables with pedestal grills, and several accessible parking spaces. Routes and restrooms within the picnic area are accessible.
Trails
The Stout Memorial Grove Loop Trail is generally accessible. Some steep slopes are located along the route, for about 0.5 mile through redwood forests. The trailhead, accessible restroom, and accessible parking are located at the east end of the Stout Memorial Grove parking lot.
The Simpson Reed Grove & Peterson Memorial loop trails provide a 0.75 mile trail experience through old growth Redwoods. Accessible parking is provided off Walker Road (not Highway 199).
The Nature & River Beach Trails provide a 0.6 mile hike through redwood forest with views of the Smith River. The River Beach Trail trailhead is in the campground, near the Visitor Center, and connects to the Nature Trail in the day-use area. An accessible picnic area is located at the trailhead of the Nature Trail in the day-use area. Accessible parking and restrooms are located near both trailheads.
