Board of Home Inspectors

The purpose of the Kentucky Board of Home Inspectors is to administer and enforce the statutory authority and to monitor the needs of the consuming public. The board examines and certifies all eligible candidates for entry into the profession of home inspection. It recommends appropriate changes in the law to assure fairness and equality. The board conducts formal hearings when necessary and prosecutes by due process any violators of KRS 198B.700 - KRS 198B.738.

Important Notice Regarding New Online System
 
You must create a brand new username and password.
 
Old One Stop Usernames and passwords are no longer valid and will not work.
 
 
v  Social Security number is used strictly as an identifier to accurately match old system data to new system data.  It will not remain within public view and has strict security.
 
v Please pay close attention to the required fields when registering your account. 
 
v When individual Board�s online renewal is completed, we will use the valid email address to communicate any new features or procedures. After your new user account is set up, you can print a new card or certificate. Legacy License Number and License Number will show identical licensure status and are valid to use today.

All applications must be submitted no later than two weeks prior to the board meeting date.  Applications accepted after this date will be considered for the next regularly scheduled board meeting.
 

 

 

  

The board does not have the authority to award monetary damages for any acts, omissions or breaches of a licensed home inspector.  If you believe you were damaged by any acts, omissions or breaches, you may want to seek legal advice.​​ ​​​​​​

 

**AMENDED REGULATION EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 4, 2015**
The amended version of 815 KAR 6:010 went into effect September 4, 2015. This amended regulation requires that all board approved pre-licensing training courses be taught face-to-face. An online pre-licensing training course shall not be accepted by the board unless the applicant was enrolled in an online pre-licensing course on or before September 4, 2015. The applicant must also maintain continuous enrollment in that pre-licensing course and must complete the course no later than 6 months after September 4, 2015.  The amended version of 815 KAR 6:010 also requires that the following continuing education courses be completed face to face:  manufactured housing, KY law, and report writing.
