The Montana Broadband Program is now closed.
The Program was funded through the State Broadband Initiative (SBI) program, administered by the U.S. Department of Commerce, National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). It ran from Jan 1, 2010 through Dec 31, 2014.

Broadband touches all parts of Montana through economic development, education, healthcare, public safety, ranching, agriculture, and civic engagement. It is transforming the way businesses — large and small — function, communicate and grow.
Access to the world through broadband helps to allow these entities create and disseminate information, literature, forms, policies, and business at a rate of speed and level that could not otherwise be achieved.
Broadband, once considered a convenience, is now
increasingly looked at as an essential medium for delivering these services.
Through this program, and working with Montana citizens, businesses, governments and Indian Country, the Montana Broadband Program has brought broadband into focus, helping it's citizens prosper and break through the digital divide. [more...]
Broadband usually refers to high-speed internet connections.
Broadband access is different from dial-up access, in that broadband connections are typically ON all the time, compared to "dialing" in on a phone line to an Internet Service Provider.
