High Water Condition

A station will be flagged as being in "High Water Condition" when five or more of the last 10 six minute readings are 1.5 feet above the predicted water level.

Low Water Condition

A station will be flagged as being in "Low Water Condition" when the average of the previous 12-hours of observations were found to be below the elevation of Low Water Datum (LWD). The elevation of LWD is the chart datum of a particular lake or section of a connecting river. The values for LWD were chosen so that during the navigation season the actual water levels in each lake would be above the datum most of the time. Caution should be used when transiting areas near stations under "Low Water Condition" status as depth soundings may be less than those found on the NOAA nautical charts.
